Sam & Emily's Wedding
Shoot type - wedding
Location - McMenamins Anderson School, Bothell, WA
Client - Sam (she/her), Emily (she/they)
Now that wedding season is over, it's time to look back on some of my favorite weddings I shot this year. This past October, I worked with Sam and Emily to photograph their wedding at McMenamins Anderson School in Bothell, WA, which is about an hour outside of Seattle.
Despite it being an October afternoon in the PNW, Sam and Emily managed to get sunshine and warmth for their ceremony and photos in the venue gardens.
A trend I've noticed as a wedding photographer is that couples seem to be moving away from doing bouquet and garter tosses. Sometimes, though, they'll do some other kind of toss instead. This time, Sam and Emily did a stuffed animal toss. There were a few other unique events in addition to the usual wedding traditions, my favorite being when Emily's mom and her mom's friends opened the dance floor with a performance to Dancing Queen by ABBA. They were truly living out everyone's Mamma Mia dreams (we all fantasize about being in the Mamma Mia universe, right?).
